Detoxify with Yoga

Thursday, September 26, 2019

The American diet - foods we consume and our environment - all have some negative effects on our bodies. One of these negative effects is the buildup of toxins within the body. Juice cleanses and over-the-counter detoxification products have become the latest health trend. But since these detoxification methods involve fasting and a vigorous diet, many people avoid them; or they start them, but cannot see them into fruition. These methods of detoxing the body are also temporary solutions, without much preventative qualities.

Part of maintaining a healthy life involves removing toxic substances or qualities from the bloodstream on a regular basis. It is well known that yoga has healing and cleansing effects. Yoga helps to stimulate your circulatory, digestive, and lymphatic systems, helping you rid your body of waste and toxins – EVERY TIME you practice. Toxins are obviously released through our sweat, but with every exhale, they are expelled from the body as well. As soon as we begin our practice, the body is triggered and the natural healing process of self-cleaning mode begins. Yoga postures are designed to specifically work on the spine and compressed muscles and organs that block the flow of blood. When you release each pose, blood flows back into those areas bringing with it nutrients and improving circulation.

In addition to the physical benefits, yoga can also provide mental clarity. Every type of yoga has a cleansing effect on the body, and so the mind benefits as well. Yoga helps to release mental and emotional toxicity by calming your central nervous system through breath.

In your yoga practice, with each new breath, you can cleanse your mind and body and re-set your life energy. This rejuvenation on a cellular level is so powerful that it is important to drink plenty of water before and after you practice yoga. The lasting benefits you will physically and emotionally experience can be life changing.

Benefits of Detoxing Your Body Regularly through Yoga:

  • More energy
  • Better sleep
  • Emotional balance
  • Improved digestion
  • Weight loss and increased libido
  • Glowing skin and a renewed passion for life!
